Maan Group recently announced the launch of Maan Horti Automation. With this step, Maan wants to focus more intensively on automation, supporting the products they market together with Klasmann-Deilmann. This organizational change will put a stronger internal focus on the further development and expansion of their automation solutions for horticulture.
“This strategic move does not come out of the blue,” says Edwin Kruiper, director of Maan Horti Automation. “We are originally a machine developer. We developed our Growcoon Dispensers, as well as the Nygaia PlugLine in-house, with help from Maan Engineering. Until last year, our horti equipment was part of Maan Engineering’s product range. There it formed its own, somewhat unusual product category, alongside the coating equipment they develop for the label and panel industry.”
“However, horti equipment took an increasingly prominent position. And furthermore, we see many opportunities, both in the market as well as within our organizations. That’s why we chose to set up a separate division. Maan Horti Automation is fully focused on horticulture. This allows us to better align our processes with those of Maan Biobased Products (producer of Growcoon) and sales partner Klasmann-Deilmann. By optimizing them, we want to boost the quality, performance and further development of our existing equipment,” says Kruiper.
“Our solutions make the Growcoon and Nygaia product concepts, scalable, more efficient and more sustainable.’ Edwin explains, ‘Automation has always been an important part of our concepts. It is indispensable if our products are to be applied on a large scale and is becoming increasingly relevant as the demand for healthy, plant-based products increases. Without good, reliable automation, you’re nowhere.”
What will change for the market?
“Not so much at first. Klasmann-Deilmann remains the first point of contact. After all, they are the cultivation experts and understand like no other where the grower’s needs lie. But because the lines will be shorter, we will be able to offer better support. We also want to expand our service network and strengthen our cooperation with existing and new partners worldwide. And customers will certainly reap the benefits of that”, Kruiper predicts.
