Description
Acacia dealbata
Acacia dealbata produces pompom-yellow mimosa blooms on a background of airy leaves. The fragrant, nectar-rich flowers in the spring are an important source of food for bees and other insects. Acacia should be grown in containers in frost-prone areas and then moved to a frost-free location in the winter. This evergreen tree grows as a single-stemmed tree by nature. However, it can be trained against a warm, sunny wall as a multi-stemmed specimen by cutting back the plant while it is young. Acacia dealbata plants can be cultivated outside in the UK’s milder regions and make an excellent specimen for protected borders. Height: Up to 8m (26′). Spread: Up to 5m (16′).
