This rare Japanese Maple is known as the ?Reticulated Acer? which refers to the dark veins decorating each leaf with a net-like pattern, contrasting with the ever-changing foliage colour. The deeply lobed leaves emerge a striking magenta-pink, possibly the pinkest Acer around! The leaves transform through a kaleidoscope of colours, changing to deep reds and lime green in late summer before taking on rich red-orange hues in autumn. The precise tones will depend upon its positioning, with shady areas producing foliage with a white-pink marbling later in the season. Acer ?Amagi Shigure? makes a spectacular specimen tree in open ground or in a large container and is best grown in a spot protected from the heat of the afternoon sun.
