Acer palmatum ‘Fireglow’
Acer palmatum ‘Fireglow’ is one of the best red Acers – successfully holding its red colouration through the summer months. This medium-sized, upright Acer unfurls red leaves in spring that deepen through summer with dark green undertones. In autumn, the foliage transforms into a blaze of crimson, the translucent leaves beautifully filtering the sun and offering a fiery finale to the growing season. After leaf-fall, the bushy but gracefully spreading branches, decorated with small, winged fruits, continue to add elegant structure to the winter landscape. The striking colour of ‘Fireglow’ makes a strong focal point for garden borders, rockeries or pond-side planting, where its brilliance will cast gorgeous reflections. Its strong red foliage enables it to cope with warmer, sunnier sites than other Acer varieties. Height and Spread: 2.5–4 m (8.2-13.1ft).
