Description
Allium caeruleum
Allium ?Blue Drumstick? makes a unique contribution to the Allium family, which predominates with mauve and pink shades. The smallish heads in sapphire blue have an exquisite jewel-like quality when planted densely. They are especially effective in drifts along the edge of a border between low, mounding plants such as geraniums. One of their very best partnerships is with Alchemilla mollis ? whose flowering time happily coincides. The blue spherical heads of Allium ?Blue Drumstick? form a perfect colour and shape contrast alongside the frothy, lime-green flowers and fresh foliage of the Alchemilla. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Attractive to pollinators. Flowers May-June. Height 60cm.
