Description
Aristolochia macrophylla
Aristolochia macrophylla is a vigorous, deciduous vine native to Canada and Eastern U.S.A, favoured for its eye-catching foliage which often cloaks the flowers. Massive, heart-like leaves, measuring up to a foot in length, create a vibrant foil of foliage where the leaves overlap one another. Unique, pipe-like blooms will emerge from late spring to August, exuding a strong perfume that will be a magnet for pollinators. Inedible, cucumber-like fruits will replace the flowers, adding further colour and interest. Aristolochia macrophylla is perfect for a trellis or wall where it will swiftly create a screen of handsome foliage. Maximum height: 8m (26ft). Spread: 4m (13ft).
