One of a range of innovative new Baptisia australis hybrids that have improved on the species with an exciting palette of intense colours, a long flowering period and a compact habit that suits smaller gardens.Baptisia ‘Decadence Blueberry Sundae’ forms compact, bushy clumps of blue-green foliage topped with spires of lupin-like, indigo blue flowers, up to 25cm long. From May, the blooms begin to open from the bottom of the spike upwards, reaching a crescendo in late summer. The flowers are followed by decorative black seed pods, extending interest into the autumn. A rewarding perennial for an informal, cottage-style border or prairie planting. The flowers are highly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects making it perfect for wildlife-friendly gardens too. Baptisia ‘Decadence Blueberry Sundae’ thrives in poor, free-draining soils and is drought resistant once established. Height: 90cm (35in). Spread: 75cm (30in).
