Description
Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea ‘Red Rocket’
With maturity, this upright, deciduous shrub forms a dense, vase-shaped bush. Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea ‘Red Rocket’ has spiny stems covered in rounded, dark burgundy leaves that turn a fiery red in autumn. Birds enjoy the scarlet berries that follow the clusters of small yellow spring flowers. This variety, like all Japanese barberry plants, is hardy, dependable, and simple to grow. This is an excellent choice for adding colour and interest to the back of sunny, mixed borders.Height: 200 cm (78). Spread: 150 cm (59).
