Description
Blueberry ‘Draper’
Blueberry ?Draper? is a vigorous, mid to late season variety producing delicious fruits from late July to mid-August. A popular choice amongst commercial growers, ?Draper? is recognised by its very big, mid-blue berries which grow on upright plants with a branching, bushy habit. Buds are less likely to become damaged by frost due to being later to bloom. An excellent choice for colder parts of the UK, these robust shrubs boast bumper crops of firm fruits with a long shelf life. Blueberries are full of nutrients with health-protective benefits and are great for adding to pies and muffins or turning into jams. A profusion of sweetly fragranced cream-white blooms create an attractive display in April and May and in autumn the leaves turn a fiery shade of crimson to provide another season of interest. Blueberry ‘Draper’ makes a wonderful feature in acidic borders and large patio pots filled with ericaceous compost. A self-fertile variety but for increased pollination and higher yields of fruits, grow with another blueberry. Height: 1.8m (6ft). Spread 1.5m (5ft). Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months (16-20 months for 3l potted plant).
