Description
Celastrus orbiculatus
Celastrus orbiculatus is a vigorous deciduous climbing vine that is favoured for its magnificent autumn foliage and shiny fruits. The twining vines bear large, vivid green leaves which are joined by discreet green flowers in summer. The real show stopping display is in autumn, when the foliage turns a rich shade of yellow and the plant is decorated with clusters of yellow fruits that split to reveal its bright red seeds. Both a male and female variety are required for plants to set fruit – plants will be from a random selection of both sexes. An eye-catching choice for sunny walls and fences. Height: 10m (32ft). Spread: 8m (26ft).
