Description
Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Lemon Sorbet’
A fast-growing and versatile deciduous shrub that will happily grow in most soil types. Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Lemon Sorbet’ is a beautiful, thorny, flowering quince which produces shiny, green leaves and double, cup-like, lemon-yellow blooms that create a striking display from March to May. The blooms provide an early source of nectar for pollinating insects and are followed by scented yellow fruits that can be used to make quince jelly. This low maintenance shrub can be left to grow into a large, stand alone specimen or pruned regularly after blooming to use as a smaller shrub for the backs of borders or as hedging. Plant in a sunny spot for the best flowering performance. Also looks very effective trained up a wall. Maximum height and spread: 3m (10ft).
