Description
Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’
Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’ is a strong and easy-to-grow plant that has earned the RHS Award of Garden Merit. The Corkscrew Hazel has a unique appearance due to its twisted branches. This deciduous shrub has crooked stems. This makes it an excellent feature for winter borders, woodland areas, and oriental planting schemes. Florists adore the twisted stems as well. In February, yellow catkins dangle elegantly from the bare stems before the contorted, small green leaves unfurl. Height and spread: 5m (16?).
