Crab Apple ‘Prairifire’ is a deciduous tree whose bark is a lustrous dark crimson that adds charm to any garden. In the spring, Malus ‘Prairifire’ blooms reddish-magenta, with purple leaves that turn green later. Then come the maroon, cone-shaped fruits, which ripen in the autumn and last long into the winter. The berry-sized fruits cling to the tree throughout the winter, offering a great supply of nutrition for the birds. It is indeed the most beautiful of Crab Apple trees. Height & Spread: 6m (20′).
