Description
Curcuma ‘Healthy Joy’
Curcuma Healthy Joy is a rare and striking tropical tuberous perennial, perfect for use as a summer patio plant or indoor houseplant. Commonly known as the Siam tulip, this vibrant plant hails from Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia. A close relative of ginger and turmeric, it is cultivated for its stunning, colourful bracts rather than its edibility. Healthy Joy stands out with its exceptional rose-pink bracts, which are adorned with deeper magenta blotches at the tips, creating a striking visual effect. These vivid bracts are supported by strong, upright stems, giving them the appearance of glowing pink torches. The bracts are complemented by erect, lance-shaped leaves, adding to the plant?s architectural, dramatic presence. This makes it a captivating focal point in larger houseplant displays or patio container arrangements, infusing them with dynamic, tropical colour. Despite its exotic appearance, Curcuma Healthy Joy is easy to grow, much like frost-tender begonias or dahlias. Simply start the tubers in early spring on a warm windowsill or in a greenhouse, and enjoy months of summer colour on your patio. Before the first autumn frost, bring them indoors, where they will continue to bloom throughout the winter months. Height: 60cm (24in), Spread: 30cm (12in). As plant height and spread can vary with the seasons, we list by pot size rather than specific plant size. The size of your plant upon delivery may differ, with the images provided as a general guide.
