Delphinium elatum ‘Highlander Flamenco’
Add a touch of magic to summer borders with Delphinium elatum ‘Highlander Flamenco’. Bred in Scotland, the Highlander™ series have been selected for their vigour, disease-resistance and hardiness, producing strong plants with sturdy, self-supporting stems that reach around 1 metre, making them more manageable and more suited to windy locations and container-growing than the very tall excelsior hybrids. Their robust habit is paired with exceptionally dainty flowers in unusual colour blends creating interesting bicolour effects. The double blooms of Delphinium ‘Highlander Flamenco’ are densely packed with fabulously frilly petals that come in a colour combination of dusky pink with creamy centres. Keep deadheading the flower spikes to encourage the production of flowering side shoots and you’ll get enough blooms to spare some for vase arrangements. The dried petals can also be used in confetti. The dreamy looks of this unique variety perfectly capture that romantic ‘cottage garden’ feel. Grow them at the back or middle of a border where they will command attention over other perennials during June and July, producing a display that will be the envy of all your neighbours! Height: 100cm (39in). Spread: 45cm (18in).Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
