Developed in Scotland, the Highlander series is known for its vigour, disease resistance, and hardiness, producing robust plants with sturdy, self-supporting stems that grow to around 1 metre. This makes them easier to manage and more suitable for windy spots and container planting compared to the taller Excelsior hybrids. Their strong growth is complemented by delicate, bicoloured flowers in captivating, unusual blends. The double blooms of Delphinium Highlander Mystery Sensation are densely packed with frilly petals in a soft pinky-lilac shade, accented with creamy yellow centres. Regular deadheading encourages the production of additional side shoots, providing an abundance of blooms for vase arrangements. The dried petals can also be used as confetti. This variety?s dreamy, romantic look perfectly captures the charm of a cottage garden.
