Description
Halesia carolina
Just before the spring foliage unfurls, this stunning, spreading Snowdrop Tree bears pendants of exquisite, snowdrop-like blossoms on bare branches. The flowers are replaced by interesting, 4-winged, green fruits as they fade, which often last into the winter. The dense canopy of bright green foliage develops a buttery yellow color in the autumn. Halesia carolina is an outstanding deciduous tree with a lengthy season of interest. For a spectacular spring display, try underplanting forest bulbs. Height: 10m (32?). Spread: 8m (26?).
