Honeysuckle ‘Dropmore Scarlet’
This flame coloured honeysuckle has long, trumpet blooms which appear above blue-green semi-evergreen foliage from midsummer. Honeysuckle ‘Dropmore Scarlet’ is a robust variety which is perfect for speedily covering unattractive garden features, fences and walls. The profusion of vibrant flowers are usually followed by shiny red berries. Height: 4m (13′). Spread: 2m (7′). Culinary note: The parboiled leaves are used as a vegetable and the flowers can be sucked for their sweet nectar, used as a vegetable or made into a syrup and pudding. A tea can also be made from the leaves, buds and flowers.
