Description
Hosta ‘First Frost’
Hosta ‘First Frost’ is an award-winning variety, combining strong garden performance with dramatic two-tone foliage. It forms mounds of thick blue-green leaves with contrasting yellow margins. The colour of the leaves deepens as summer progresses whilst the margins become whiter. Tubular, lavender flowers are carried on blue stems from mid to late summer. Its robust foliage stands up beautifully until the first frosts, hence its name, and the thick leaves are also reported to be less attractive to slugs. Hosta ‘First Frost’ has been recognised with an RHS Award of Garden Merit and was voted 2010 Hosta of the Year by the American Hosta Growers Association.Hostas are one of the best foliage plants for light shade. Mass them together in borders for a spectacular display or plant them into patio containers as individual specimens. These resilient, easy-grow, hardy perennials will reward you with fresh colourful foliage each spring, lasting right through to autumn. Height: 45cm (18in). Spread: 90cm (35in).
