This award-winning deciduous shrub is a hardy variety that copes well with drought better than mophead types. It swiftly develops into a spreading shrub with an open habit, smothered in large, deep green, velvet-like foliage. Hydrangea aspera ?Sargentiana? is a medium-sized shrub that produces a mass of large, elegant lacecap blooms from midsummer. White outer florets surround the small blue to purple inner florets to create a spectacular display. It will grow well in a sunny position as long as it receives some shade during the heat of the day. A great choice for the back of mixed borders and shady woodland gardens. Height: 3m (10ft).
