Ilex verticillata ‘Jingle Bells’ is a stunning shrub for the winter garden, its bare branches dazzling with scarlet berries for months.This deciduous, suckering holly takes a background role during the growing season, with its bright green, toothed foliage. Female plants bear small white flowers in spring that are attractive to pollinators. Come autumn the foliage turns golden before falling, leaving bare branches completely studded in brilliant red, long-lasting berries that almost seem to twinkle like jewels through the dark winter months. Branches can be cut and brought into the house for seasonal arrangements and are much sought after by florists.
