Juncus effusus (Marginal Aquatic)
This hardy perennial is a common site in British waterways. Juncus effus produces sturdy, erect stems that form dense, spreading clumps and during the summer, the almost-leafless stems bear small sprays of purple-brown flowers. Smooth Rush is perfect for shallow pond margins and bog gardens. Height and spread: 60cm (24). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 15cm (6) below water level.
