Leucothoe ‘Scarletta’
This stunning evergreen shrub is actually very simple to grow, despite its tropical looking appearance! Leucothoe ‘Scarletta’ produces beautiful shiny foliage which starts a burgundy colour, becomes green as it matures and turns bronze in autumn. Plant in a shady border with acid soil amongst other evergreen shrubs, particularly a golden beauty like Euonymus. Leucothoe ‘Scarletta’ will also look magnificent in a large patio container in the sun where it will look almost metallic. Use an ericaceous compost if they soil isn’t naturally acidic. Height: 1.5m (4′). Spread: 2m (6′).
