One of the fantastic Fairy Series of compact magnolias, Magnolia ‘Fairy Blush’ offers a profusion of fragrant flowers and rich evergreen foliage without the fuss you might normally associate with magnolias.Renowned for their speed and ease, the Magnolia Blush series is a joy to grow! Unlike other magnolias, you won’t need to wait years for it to flower. Even from a young age, dark brown, velvety flower buds are carried at almost every leaf axil, blanketing the whole shrub in a flurry of soft lilac-pink blooms from early spring. The colouring of each individual flower is exquisitely detailed, violet bleeding around the petal edges and defining their elegant cup-shape. Flowering can begin as early as March, offering not only an early spring spectacle to wake up the garden but also a delicate perfume to awaken your senses! After its big spring flush, sporadic flowers can also appear later in the summer. The blooms shine out against their dark backdrop and plants remain evergreen in all but the harshest winters. This hardy magnolia makes an outstanding, low maintenance feature shrub without taking up too much space. In a small urban outdoor area, it will happily grow in a large container. In larger spaces, plant it in the border for spring impact and year-round foliage colour and structure. Its bushy habit even makes it suitable for floral hedging in sheltered gardens.
