This rare and unique magnolia hybrid produces attractive evergreen leaves, has an extremely long flowering season and bears striking blooms with an intense fruity perfume! Magnolia ?Stellar Ruby? is a hardy hybrid of the Banana Shrub or Magnolia figo but differs from the deciduous, spring-flowering shrubs we usually associate with magnolias. This evergreen magnolia is more fast-growing than other magnolias, forming a vertical, narrow plant, smothered in lush, dark green, pointed foliage. ?Stellar Ruby? will bloom from a young age, boasting a profusion of small pink to crimson flowers with prominent stamens that will appear in flushes from April through to September. An excellent specimen plant for sunny or semi-shaded borders as well as making a handy screening plant. Once established, Magnolia ?Stellar Ruby? is drought tolerant and shows great resistance to pests and disease. Ideal for coastal gardens where it will tolerate salt spray and will thrive in a large patio pot where you can make the most of its incredible banana-scented flowers. Height: 3-4.5m (10-15ft).
