Molinia caerulea ‘Banshee’
This superb grass offers long and continuous flowering plus changing colours and textural effects through every season. Molinia caerulea ‘Banshee’ forms neat tussocks of bright green, linear leaves that give rise to upright, airy plumes of flowers from June to September. The flowers begin dark purple before turning into a haze of soft pink and they are highly attractive to pollinators. In autumn, the stems and leaves turn gold and the feathery plumes continue to hold their form as the weather gets colder, creating beautiful texture and structure in the winter garden. This low maintenance, deciduous grass is resistant to drought, pollution and coastal winds. Plant it in drifts as multi-season groundcover or blend it with flowering perennials to bring movement and textural contrast into mixed borders. Height: 100cm (39in).
