Passiflora ‘Damsel’s Delight’ will festoon a wall, trellis or arbour with the most fabulously exotic flowers that never fail to attract attention. Broad purple petals surround a ring of filaments that are black-purple in the centre and radiate out to violet. A prominent central stigma adds the final flourish. The elaborate blooms are carried on this fast-growing, semi-evergreen climber from mid-summer to autumn and if fertilised are followed by attractive, but inedible, orange fruits. Vigorous and easy to grow, these subtropical climbers make a showy addition to a warm, south or west-facing sheltered wall, trellis, or a conservatory. Though frost hardy, in cold areas, passion flowers will benefit from winter protection or being moved indoors to a greenhouse or conservatory over winter. Height: 8-12m (26-39ft).
