Pinus thunbergii ‘Kotobuki’
A wonderful specimen tree for small and narrow spaces or for pot growing in courtyards and on terraces and patios. Pinus thunbergii ‘Kotobuki’ makes a stunning focal point in a coastal garden and is also a favourite for bonsai growing. This moderate-growing, dwarf conifer has a graceful, pyramidal habit with robust, vertical branches smothered in needles all the way down to the base. Fresh needles emerge in spring as upright, white candles, creating an eye-catching contrast with the mature, prickly, deep grey-green foliage. This conifer is extremely hardy and copes well with heat, drought and difficult soils. Pinus thunbergii ‘Kotobuki’ tolerates pollution and sea winds, making it an excellent choice for coastal gardens. Height: 2m (7ft). Spread: 90cm (3 ft).
