Pittosporum tobira ‘Nanum’
Pittosporum tobira ‘Nanum’ is a much dwarfer and slower growing version of the species, retaining all its best features in a size that is much more suited to small gardens. Pittosporum tobira ‘Nanum’ forms a low-growing evergreen shrub with a compact, rounded form and glossy, dark green, leathery foliage that is held in attractive whorls. Its low, mounding habit makes it perfect for adding year-round interest to borders, pathways, and containers. In late spring and early summer, it produces terminal clusters of small flowers with a delightful honey fragrance, adding to its appeal. The waxy flowers open white and quickly change to yellow. This borderline hardy shrub requires some winter protection and is best grown in a sheltered position such as against a south or west facing wall. Container-grown specimens should be moved into a sheltered spot to over winter. It is ideal for warm coastal gardens where it tolerates salt-laden winds. Requiring little maintenance, ‘Nanum’ is a great choice for low hedging, ground cover or for evergreen interest on the patio, offering year round structure and colour in even the smallest of spaces. Maximum height and spread: 1m (39in).Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
