Description
Pulsatilla ‘Fairy Dreams’
Pulsatilla ‘Fairy Dreams’ is a unique pasque flower – the first with fully double, rich purple flowers.Discovered as a chance seedling of Pulsatilla ‘Papageno’, Pulsatilla ‘Fairy Dreams’ boasts an even warmer purple colour and fully double, even triple blooms that last longer than single varieties. Each flower is composed of a central ruff of slender, silky-haired petals surrounded by a ring of broader petals – almost resembling a miniature double clematis. The flowers appear late March to April, nodding at first, but then gradually lifting their faces upwards to show off their exquisite looks. The blooms are poised on long stems above frothy clumps of lacy, fern-like foliage. As the flowers fade, they are replaced by intriguing silky seed heads that extend the season of interest into summer. This gorgeous pulsatilla is ideal for growing in alpine gardens, rockeries, and gravel gardens or showing off in a handsome terracotta pot. Height and Spread: 15cm – 30cm (6 – 12in).
