Description
Salvia greggii ‘Joy’
This lovely salvia brings nonstop joy all summer long, until the first frosts! This shrubby, perennial salvia is ideal for adding long-lasting color to a pastel-themed border or container display, with elegant, bi-colored blooms that feature a dark pink hood and a shell pink lip, all set off by a purple calyx. When combined with other long-flowering perennials like lavender, Nepeta Neptune, and blue geranium Rozanne, Salvia Joy will provide months of color. Salvia Joy blooms from late spring to autumn if deadheaded regularly, bearing masses of open racemes above small, oval, grey-green foliage that is highly aromatic. Because the flowers are appealing to pollinating insects, they are an excellent choice for a wildlife garden. 60cm in height and spread (24). Salvia Joy, like other shrubby salvias, is reliably hardy in a freely draining, sunny position but may struggle in colder climates where the soil remains wet during the winter. However, salvias are incredibly easy to root from cuttings. Have a read of our guide: Taking cuttings of half-hardy salvias. Plant height and spread are seasonal. Therefore, we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
