The distinctive, lightly scented purple blooms of Solanum crispum ?Glasnevin? betray its close family ties with the humble potato. This fascinating climber will quickly scale walls and trellis with its vigorous, twining stems. This superb RHS AGM variety wears a cloak of bright green foliage that remains semi-evergreen in mild areas, and makes a pretty backdrop for the flowers and white berries that follow. The Chilean Potato Tree, as it is sometimes known, is best grown in a sunny south facing spot where it is reliably hardy. Height: 5m (16′). Spread: 3m (10′).
