Castanae sativa will tolerate being clipped to the desired size, and as long as the catkin-flowers aren’t cut off after they appear in summer, you’ll be rewarded with their fruits later in the year. The large oblong leaves grow to be 20cm (8 inches) long ) in length and will quickly form a dense covering that will serve as an effective privacy screen. It’s also great for blending with other nut or fruit bearing hedging plants. Height: 12m (39′). Spread: 8m (26′). Planting distance: 50cm (20 ). (3 plants per metre for a single line hedge).
