Description
Taxus baccata
This English Yew is a medium-sized bushy evergreen tree with narrow, leathery leaves that are very dark green. In the spring, male plants produce yellow cones, while female plants produce red cup-shaped non-edible autumn fruits. Tolerant of dry soils and a tough all-around plant. They can be grown as hedges and are great for providing a backdrop in herbaceous beds or as a general formal hedge. Taxus baccata has been honoured with a prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 20m (66′). Spread: 10m (33′).
