Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’
This RHS AGM cultivar is a slow-growing conifer with a cleanly conical shape that is narrow, erect, and densely branching. Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ has a golden tint to its young foliage in the spring before ripening to a dark green. Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ is a great stand-alone specimen tree that provides year-round color and structure in the garden. This variety forms an excellent hedge, especially when combined with the yellow form Thuja occidentalis ‘Golden Smaragd’ to create a vibrant two-tone look. Height: 2.5 m (98). Spread: 1.5 m (59).
