Typha angustifolia (Marginal Aquatic)

The Lesser Bulrush is a quick-growing native perennial that is commonly seen in British wetlands. Typha angustifolia produces clumps of upright, greyish-green foliage and from July to September, tall stems will rise from the foliage, bearing distinctive, cylindrical, dark brown flower heads which gradually turn to fluffy beige seed heads. Although this species is slightly more compact than Typha latifolia, it still grows to a decent sized plant that makes an excellent marginal aquatic for lakes and large ponds, where the groups of bulrushes will provide useful cover for wildlife and pondlife. Height and spread: 150cm (59). Planting depth: Zones 2 and 3 to 30cm (12) below water level.
