Vitex agnus-castus ‘Delta Blues’ is a breathtaking deciduous shrub and has palmate, grey-green foliage that is lightly aromatic. Although a variety, it outperforms previous selections with its upright, shrubby habit. In autumn, it generates branching sprays of dark purple-blue scented flowers at the stem tips, which attract butterflies and insects. It is an excellent choice for sunny borders, adding a soft pop of colour late in the season. Vitex is frequently confused with buddleja, but it is far more sophisticated.
